Digital Rights and Responsibilities
Overview
Digital Rights and Responsibilities involves membership in a digital setting that affords the use of digital content while enjoying certain protections. As members of this society, members agree to abide by the rules of the group, and work together to determine what is appropriate within the framework of the group. This also includes ethical use of online material, requesting permissions, and citing sources when using intellectual property. Violations of digital rights and responsibilities include immoral actions in group settings, such as posting offensive images, making lewd comments to others posts, and cyber bullying which involves threatening others with harm or making comments online that are offensive or defame ones’ character or reputation. In educational settings and at home, school administrators and parents should work in concert to teach students appropriate digital behaviors and responsibilities that protect the rights of all users in an online environment (Ribble, 2015).

Connections to Digital Rights and Responsibilities
Digital Rights and Responsibilities are in relation to appropriate behavior in a digital environment are fixed by function when using Air Force networks. There is little room or tolerance for inappropriate behavior on official government networks. Permissions to specific networks or applications are granted on a need to use basis, and controlled through an access process that involves justification for use and supervisor authorization. The Air Force relies on written manuals and instructions for almost every function, and information systems is no different. Air Force Manual 33-152, User responsibilities and Guidance for Information Systems, is one example of a publication that outlines general or overarching guidance on the policies and proper use of Air Force computer and network systems.
